This New Summer Camp Offers Quality Time for Grandparents & Grandchildren in National Parks

Being outdoors and engaging kids in learning about the natural world is a stimulating alternative to a smartphone screen. Many grandparents are eager to spend one-on-one time with their grandchildren and share fond memories of  experiences from their own childhoods or trips with their children years ago.

For the summer of 2019, the educational travel non-profit organization, Road Scholar, is unveiling a new kind of experience in its collection of popular learning adventures for grandparents and grandchildren – camping in National Parks.

Led by naturalists and expert local staff, Road Scholar participants and their grandchildren (ages 8-18) will learn about our nation’s greatest natural treasures as they camp in tents and embark on outings throughout the parks. The initial offerings include programs in Zion, Bryce, Yellowstone and Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota.

“Grandparents revisit these parks anew with their grandchildren and experience them through new eyes. And the grandchildren love exploring the parks and spending private time learning and discovering with their grandparents,” said James Moses, President and CEO of Road Scholar.
